Transparency International has published the 2012 Corruption Perception Index showcasing the continuing issue of corruption, lack of transparency and disbelief in the public sector. Southern and Eastern Europe, in particular, are the regions where the countries have scored lower in the ranking compared to 2011. As EuCham stands for integrity and ethics in all sectors, it is important that governments change the trend and work harder to resolve the corroding effect of corruption.
Furthermore, on 6 Dec 2012 EuCham participated in a seminar organized by Salans and opened by Ms Noémi Alexa from Transparency International, focusing on the compliance of anti-corruption laws. The European Chamber, as part of its strategic mission, suggested the audience to work on the improvement of the business environment and reverse the trend of this ongoing problem.
